FAQ’s:
- What do we do at these meetings?
We have an agenda that is designed by the captains. We go over monthly crime statistics, open the floor to concerns, have a special presentation (hot topic), and discuss other business. We gather to keep each other informed, your attendance is important and shows your support.
- What do I need to bring to the meeting?
We do not require that you bring anything to the meetings, we just ask that you come. Most members find it useful to bring paper and pen/pencil. We usually provide an agenda with contact information so that you can follow along.
- Who can attend?
Anyone living in our watch area is welcome to attend. We encourage you to ask your neighbor to come. The point is hard to make: the more people that we have aware of what is going on in our area, the safer our neighborhood is, the safer your house is.
- I'm a student, why should I bother?
Students our welcome and encouraged to join our program, even if you are only here for a year or even a semester. Police statistics show that students are often a prime target for crime. Our watch group can help! We can offer tips, get you involved, and keep you informed.
- I've been to a meeting, why should I go to another one?
We strive to have new topics at each meeting and we are now limiting our meetings to a specific agenda. Crime doesn't stop because we have our meetings. If you can't make the meetings, it's understandable. Our meeting notes are posted on the web site. You can also keep in touch with our mailing list. Please inquiry about our mailing list if you are not yet a member of the email list.
- Can I get a sign for my mailbox?
Resources are limited here, please contact Jason Hibbets to see if our watch program has any available.
- How can I plan for the meetings?
Currently, the group has decided to have quarterly meetings. You can expect to have a meeting on the first Tuesday of the following months: March, June, September, and December. We will do our best to not plan a meeting at the same time with the Southwest Raleigh CAC meetings (usually the second Monday of every month).
